The summer holidays are fast approaching and with them comes the sense that there are 6 long weeks of endless summer days to fill! So if you’ve got children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews then you’ll be pleased to hear that RHS Wisley has plenty to entertain everyone – from the committed horticulturalist to the budding botanist!
It’s 75 years this summer since The Famous Five was first published and to celebrate their daring adventures there’ll be activities throughout the whole 6 weeks of the summer holidays for all the family to take part in.
Enjoy a puppet theatre in week 1, or marvel at amazing birds of prey in a falconry display in week 2. Join a celebratory picnic with face painting on 11th August to mark Enid Blyton’s birthday, or make music in week 4. There’ll be story-telling in week 5 and a strawberry ‘sow and grow’ activity in week 6. And that’s just for starters…
There’s also a self-guided trail to follow with clues and mysteries to solve for younger visitors and, of course, Wisley in August is full of late summer colour and inspiration for garden enthusiasts.
2017 marks an exciting year for Wisley’s permanent garden displays with the addition of a brand new Exotic Garden containing a host of plants including canna, banana, zinnia and dahlia as well as salvia and tithonia.
All activities are free once you’ve paid the normal entry fee, so to find out more about entry costs and opening times see the website.
