By its own admission, “Autumn is when the gardens at Hinton Ampner are at their most vibrant. Dahlias fill the borders and giant pumpkins are ripening in the walled garden.”Hinton Ampner is a beautiful National Trust property set in the rolling chalk downs of Hampshire, near Alresford. There is an extensive walled garden, cloud pruned yew hedge, topiary and colourful borders and shrubs throughout – perfect for generating ideas and inspiration amongst gardeners. And for those of you wanting to strike out on a longer walk, the estate is running guided walks as part of the National Trust’s ‘Great British Walk’ campaign, this Autumn. Guided walks are £10 per person and take at least 2 hours to complete – but there’s a hearty bowl of soup at the cafe included on your return. Walks run on Saturday 24th October or Wednesday 4th November; gates open at 10am. Click HERE for more information and follow the links for ‘Great British Walk’.
