At this time of year the daffodils are just starting to push up, the pin-sharp leaves of crocus are beginning to emerge and ocassionally, just occasionally, the weather is slightly warmer. What all this means is that spring is coming. It’s only February but gardeners always catch a whiff of the season early!

And once the sap starts rising and the days gradually get longer, then its all most gardeners can do to stop themselves rushing off to the nearest nursery or garden centre and buying plants with gleeful abandon.

So for those of you who heartily enjoy investing in new plants to refresh the borders or completely transform your garden in the spring, then this post is for you. Here’s a couple of the fairs coming up in the South East for spring 2017. If you’re willing to travel further there’s a few more to enjoy, too.

RHS Wisley plant fair, 24th – 26th March 2017 – Surrey

A wonderful chance to browse a wide selection of the finest plants from a selection of nurseries. Choose shrubs, summer bulbs and annuals to really enhance your garden for the coming year. Gates open at 9.30am and close at 4.30pm. Normal garden admission prices apply.

Spring plant fair at the newly re-opened Garden Museum, 29th April – London
