There’s a definate chill outside this week, which can make venturing out into the garden slightly less appealing! But if you don’t fancy heading out into a sharp north-easterly wind, then it might be time to get some garden inspiration elsewhere.
As well as traditional ‘armchair gardening’ (leafing through garden books, ordering seeds and bulbs and getting carried away with garden-gadget purchases online) there’s also a number of talks coming up in the next few weeks from renowned TV gardeners Carol Klein, Joe Swift and Monty Don – which, since they involve sitting down, count as ‘armchair gardening’.
Carol Klein’s irrepressible enthusiam and depth of knowledge combine to make her and a warm and engaging talk-host. In this one-off evening event at the Chelsea Physic Garden, Carol will talk candidly and informally about her gardening life and career. Tickets start at £17 and you can also reserve tables and dining slots for an additional fee.
See the website here for details. Make sure to click, ‘supper talks’ from the drop down menu when purchasing tickets.
Joe Swift came to gardening via rock ‘n’ roll, and he brings all his experiences and ideas to life in this frank and entertaining talk at the Blackheath Halls. Find out about what goes on behind the scenes of the Chelsea Flower Show and hear about his experiences of winning a Chelsea ‘gold’.
Tickets cost £18 and you can find out more and book tickets here.
…Then you can listen to the country’s ‘Head Gardener’, Monty Don, talk about his life and enriching gardening experiences at the Royal Spa Centre, Leamington Spa, Friday 18th Nov, from 7.30pm. £18.00 per head. Tickets and information here.
